Machine does great job of composting kitchen scraps into a dry mixture that can easily be raked into the garden. Only gives off a slight odor while working. Very pleased.
My jaw dropped when I unwrapped the gigantic box last Christmas and discovered that my sister had given me a Foodcycler. I had wanted/talked about it for more than a year, but with a laundry list of home renovations and other expenses, I had relegated it to the "nice to have some day" category. After loading the bucket with Christmas dinner scraps, I eagerly pushed the start button and...nothing. Just blinking lights. To say I was crestfallen is an understatement. I reached out to the company via the website and received an automated response that they were closed for the holidays. Totally fair. I was disappointed, but I'm not a monster. What happened next was a brilliant example of what customer service can and should be. As soon as they were back in the office, I received an email from Jillian (Yay, Jillian!). She had a couple of basic questions, but she didn't make solving my issue contingent on my answers, and she didn't put me through some crazy "have you tried this?" back and forth. She gave me the info to return it and immediately sent me a new unit. I know because I received a replacement the DAY AFTER I dropped the non-working unit at UPS. They didn't even wait to receive it before sending a replacement. They just believed me. Aces. Now for the truly embarrassing (and also kind of awesome) part. A few months later, someone in my household lost their mind and dumped banana peels and some iffy cooked cabbage in the machine...without the collection bucket (OK, it was me). Initially, the Foodcycler wouldn't turn on. After unplugging it and plugging it into a different outlet and pushing the button several times, it finally came on. The result was...not pretty, but after a thorough cleaning the Foodcycler started right up and despite that horrific abuse, has been working like an absolute champ ever since. It's a well-made machine. I do everything I can to avoid food waste before it goes into the Foodcycler, but when it does, I'm thrilled with the results. I have used the resulting soil amendment in my garden, and my tomatoes and elderberry bushes have absolutely exploded. I absolutely love this little machine.
I am so excited to now have the opportunity to compost my scraps into nutrient-dense foodilizer! There is no smell, barely any sound, and I love the pause function so I can add to a cycle mid-drying. The perfect size for any size home.
Easy to use, quite, and nice to look at! Highly recommend!
I was hesitant at first, but i am glad I purchased the foodcycler. I feel better not throwing the produce scraps away.
